Helpful Acne Nutrition Tips

People that struggle with acne are always looking for ways to treat and prevent it. Studies have been done that say that diet does not play a part in causing or treating acne. However, the recommendations for acne preventative care states that what is best for the body is best for the skin. Skin in the biggest organ of the body. Here is a list of acne nutrition tips that include healthy vitamins, minerals, and supplements that are thought to prevent and cure acne breakouts.
1. Retinol or Vitamin A is an ingredient in some cosmetic creams along with liver, dairy products, and fish oils. It is produced in plants and is also called Beta-carotene. It can be found in most fruits with a yellow/orange color as well as vegetables like yams, carrots, spinach, parsley, and kale. It is important to keep in mind that too much Vitamin A can be toxic to the body.
2. Vitamin B Complex. This vitamin is found in fish, whole grains, leafy vegetables, milk, and eggs. It functions in many different ways. For instance, B-2 may irritate acne, but help take stress away. Stress relief can be found in B-1, B-6, and B-12. Eggs, peanuts, avocados, liver, and lean meat contains B-3 which is supposed to reduce cholesterol and has an anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. It is also supposed to increase circulation and the metabolism while improving acne.
3. Vitamin C. C ester, one form of Vitamin C, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that penetrate the skin and prevent acne. It is part of ongoing tests to see if it can repair acne scarring from the teenage years.
4. Vitamin E. This is found in vegetable oils, almonds, peanuts, broccoli, wheat germ, and sunflower seeds. It is linked to help heal scar tissue. Scientists believe that ingesting one form of Vitamin E called tocotrienol may have antioxidant properties that are useful for the skin.
5. L-Carnitine. This supplement is thought to help fix skin damage from past acne.
6. Zinc and Selenium. Zinc is a mineral that is found in nuts, whole grains, eggs, and mushrooms. Selenium is found in soil and is absorbed by many vegetables. It may improve the skin and overall health as well.
There are numerous vitamins on store shelves. A high quality brand of multivitamin will come with the recommended doses of vitamins and minerals that are essential for acne prevention. This must be combined with drinking a lot of water throughout the day and eating a healthy diet. For instance, if a person has had bad effects from eating a particular type of food, be cautious of it and make healthier food choices in the future.
